Sequoyah Teen Recognized for Vision

A statewide search for the most inspirational young men of diverse backgrounds brought The Colored Rock Foundation to Hickory Flat.

Sylvester Williams, a student, is a finalist for The Colored Rocks Foundation to honor inspirational achievements of young men of different races.

Williams will share a prize fund of $5,000 with the other 15 finalists.                           

The finalists were chosen from by essay competition answers and their plans to use their talents to complete a unique individual program that will specifically inspire and motivate other male students of color in their community, according to a release.

The Colored Rocks Foundation was established to help increase high school graduation rates among male students from diverse ethnic backgrounds.
