RaceTrac of the Future Opens

The Cobb County-based company opens its new prototype station.

RaceTrac held a ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday with Mayor Tommy Allegood at its new store at the corner of Hwy 92/Lake Acworth Drive and Cherokee Street/Glade Road in .

Leaders with the Cobb County-based company said the new gas station will serve as the prototype for all new , calling the 6,000-square-foot new design the "RaceTrac of the future."

"Our new store design features many exciting updates including indoor and outdoor seating, 10 Swirl World frozen yogurt flavors with more than 40 toppings, a beer cave with 50 plus brands, and free wireless internet," said RaceTrac spokesperson Terrica Oglesby.

The company says the city of Acworth was chosen as the launching pad for the newly designed station based on neighborhood demographic research. It will employ at least 20 people to work at the new store.

"We wanted to take that one step further and create a neighborhood one-stop shop that would have everything our guests had been asking for, everything from the inside seating, for example, or the simple addition of a toaster," said Oglesby.

The new store will hold opening celebrations every Friday from today through Jan. 20, with a special ‘Spin to Win’ prize wheel outside of the store.

On Saturday, Jan. 21, there will be a grand opening event at 3 p.m. with giveaways including one Grand Prize of $2,500 in RaceTrac gift cards. Free frozen yogurt every week for a year and free coffee everyday for a year will also be among the giveaways that day.
