Berkmar High Recognized as 'HeartSafe School'

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta recognized Berkmar High School, among eight in Gwinnett County, as "HeartSafe Schools," during the 2011-2012 year.

Clinic workers and first responders recognized:

• Berkmar High, represented by Candy Stanford
• Chattahoochee Elementary, represented by Misty Higgins
• Kanoheda Elementary, represented by Lizzie Hampton
• Norcross Elementary, represented by Dwan Neal
• Stripling Elementary, represented by Sonya Fouch
• Snellville Middle, represented by Chandra Raab
• Brookwood High, represented by Melanie Pickens
• Give Center West, represented by Lisa Gravlee

Becoming a “HeartSafe School” involves having a designated emergency response team trained in CPR and the Automated External Defibrillator (AED), holding an annual AED emergency drill, and requiring pre-participation sports physicals, among other requirements.
