Blue Moon Today, Watch it Online

Tonight, something rare this way comes.

That's right, it's time another outer space phenomenon -- the blue moon. It's the second time this month that there has been a full moon, which makes the one tonight "blue."

According to NASA, though, the moon likely will not be blue at all. It's a white and greyish color. In times of volcanic eruptions and heavy wildfires, it might look blue. But, the name doesn't mean the color. It really just means, hmm, this is  very, very unique in the space world.

It also could be red, according to NASA. That depends on how low it's hanging in the sky.

So, step outside tonight and take a gander.

Can't get away from some inside building to look, we have just the treat: You can watch it online. Beginning at 6 p.m., the web-based Slooh Space Camera will air it live.

Slooh's program will feature live shots of the moon from an African observatory. Africa, and views of the sun from the Prescott Observatory in Arizona.
