Driver Gives Man the Middle Finger, Hits Him With Car

Inside the Police Reports: As he drove off, the driver struck the man with his Jeep's side mirror and antenna.

A driver traveling in Lilburn and Stone Mountain showed some road rage to a tree removal crew by driving erratically, giving them the middle finger, and then hitting a worker with his car.

According to the Lilburn Police report, the crew was traveling behind a black Jeep Wrangler on Highway 78 near the Hugh Howell Road exit on a recent Friday around 9:15 a.m.

One of the employees, a 39-year-old from Douglasville, told authorities that the driver of the Wrangler showed them his middle finger. He then suddenly slammed on his brakes, causing the workers' truck to drive off the road.

The crew eventually got back on the road and drove to Kenneth Drive and Angie Way in Lilburn to fulfill a tree removal appointment.

After they started working, the crew spotted the same Jeep on the street. The same employee from before approached the vehicle to ask him why he was acting odd, but the driver seemed to ignore him.

The car drove toward the man and stopped shy of hitting him, according to the report. The driver then backed up several feet and sped forward, this time actually striking the worker's right arm with the radio antenna and rearview mirror.

The jeep continued to speed away out of view while running a stop sign on the way. Police were able to speak to a neighbor who said he saw the incident.

After the crew supplied police with the Jeep's license plate number, a match came back showing the vehicle was owned by two people from Sharpsburg, Ga. The police report indicates that the driver's license photo for one of the owners matches the driver's description of the suspect, who was a white male in his 20s with sandy blond hair that "covered the tops of his ears."

The officer wrote that he would obtain a photo lineup and present it to the victim in the near future.
