Parkview Student Accused Of Having Gun At School Arrested
A classmate notified administrators that the accused student had the gun at school, Parkview High School Principal David Smith said.
LILBURN, GA — A Parkview High School student was arrested Thursday after being accused of bringing an unloaded gun to school, according to a letter from school Principal David Smith.
Patch has obtained a copy of the letter, which stated a classmate notified administrators that the accused student had the gun at school.
The gun was found in the student's backpack, Smith said. He added the gun was never "used to threaten or harm anyone."

"With that said, we are taking this situation seriously," Smith said. "Guns and weapons will not be tolerated at Parkview High. It is a serious violation of our student discipline policy and is against the law."
The student was arrested on unknown charges, he said.

Similar arrests have recently taken place in other parts of Georgia.
A Cartersville High School student was arrested in mid-January after being accused of hiding two guns in the campus bathroom. The student was first accused of shooting at a BMW before going to school.
A second Apalachee High School student in Winder was also arrested in January after being accused of bringing a gun on campus months after a mass shooting killed two students and two teachers and injured several others.
