Atlantic Station Becoming Electric Vehicle Charging Central

As more metro Atlantans purchase and lease electric vehicles, the southeast's largest EV charging site is set to be located at the Midtown mixed-use development.

In less than three weeks, Midtown’s Atlantic Station could be home to the Southeast’s largest electric vehicle charging site.

As Atlanta Business Chronicle reported last week, the EV infrastructure could be installed by the April 22 Earth Day at the Midtown mixed-use, making it a destination spot for Nissan LEAFs, Chevrolet Volts and other plug-ins.

A total of 15 chargers are being installed, as electric vehicle sales in metro Atlanta are steadily climbing. Tax credits are just one of the reasons why according to ChargePoint, Atlanta led the county with a 52 percent increase in sales last year between the third and fourth quarters.

A previous report had Atlantic Station as a future home to Tesla Motors' "Superchargers."

The EV project at Atlantic Station is a joint venture between CBRE, Nissan America, Tesla Motors and Metro Plug-In and expands the chargers already located at the mixed-use.
