According to the Associated Press and the Atlanta-Journal Constitution, John Dewberry is planning to put six more stories on top of the 21-story Campanile building. The extension would be part of a multi-million dollar renovation currently in progress at the site, which is designed to make the building tall and slender, Dewberry says.

Dewberry’s colleagues are skeptical, telling the AJC and AP that the market isn’t crowded enough to warrant building on top of existing structures. Additionally, colleagues say that Dewberry runs the risk of reducing the total amount of usable floor space and turning the building into a mismatched monstrosity.
