ICYMI: Flagship Whole Foods Coming to Midtown

The Related Group has confirmed its plans to build a mixed-use tower anchored by the organic grocer in the heart of Midtown.

Construction crews will soon be hard at work erecting Midtown’s flagship Whole Foods Market as part of a mixed-use development which will also include a 38-story tower.

Developers The Related Group confirmed their plans on Tuesday, though rumors and speculation about the development had been brewing for months. Atlanta Business Chronicle reports that The Related Group cited Midtown’s walkability, thriving business district, and plethora of technology companies as prime reasons why they wanted to build the project at 14th and West Peachtree streets.

Plans call for a 70,000 sq. ft., multi-story Whole Foods Market to anchor the 38-story tower with 390 upscale apartments. Smallwood, Reynolds, Stewart, Stewart is responsible for the architecture of the project, while local designer Michael Habachy has been tasked with bringing the Whole Foods to live, the Chronicle says.

Atlanta Business Chronicle said last month that the store itself could contain a 5,000 sq. ft. pub, a 4,000 sq. ft. cooking school, and a three-story parking deck with space for nearly 300 vehicles.
