Adams Appointed to Walton County BOC District 5 Seat
Jeremy Adams, 35, a Monroe Chiropractor, was appointed Tuesday to serve out the remainder of the term vacated by former District 5 Commissioner Gerald Atha.

By a unanimous vote at the close of the Walton County Board of Commissioners meeting on Tuesday, Jeremy Adams was chosen to serve out the balance of former seat. Atha resigned from the BOC in May to mount an unsuccessful challenge to Chairman Kevin Little for his seat.
Adams, a Monroe chiropractor, said he was surprised, but pleased, by his appointment. He was one of 11 who applied for the position. He said he hopes to bring a fresh perspective to the Commission.
“In my profession I hear from citizens of Walton County as well as citizens that work for the county, city, state and the federal government, so I think that I get broad information base and different points of view when it comes to making decisions for the county/district,” Adams said, saying his motivation for seeking the position was for an opportunity to give back. “Walton County/District 5 has been very good to me. I wanted a chance to serve – to give back to the county and my district.”

For Adams, this appointment is a whole new direction for him.
“I hadn’t planned on going into politics,” Adams said, adding that he doesn’t consider himself a politician. “I consider myself a citizen/business owner who wants to make a difference for his community.”

Adams said his wife and children are excited about his appointment to the BOC.
“They are behind me 100 percent,” he said. “I think of things in the order of God/family/community.”
Adams and his wife, Jennifer, have five sons, Jeremiah 13, Jacob 11, Joseph 8, Joshua 6, and James 4.
Adams, who is 35, has lived in Walton County for the last 10 years and said he can trace his family’s roots in Walton County back to the 1800s. He is currently working as a chiropractor in Monroe. He earned his doctorate of Chiropractic from Life University of Marietta in 2002, graduating Summa cum Laude, Salutatorian.
Adams will serve on the BOC under his current appointment until Dec. 31 2014. He can run for a full four-year term on the BOC in 2014.
