Daylight Saving Time Begins at 2 a.m. Sunday, Don't Forget to Spring Forward

March 10 is the official beginning of 2013 Daylight Saving Time.

Tomorrow is the official switch back over to Daylight Saving Time, so don't forget to "spring forward." At 2 a.m. March 10, the time will be moved forward by one hour.

What used to begin on the first Sunday in April and ended the last Sunday in October has slowly been extended to make for a longer period of daylight saving each year. This year it goes from March 10 until Nov. 3.

Fire departments use the change over twice a year to remind everyone to use the occasion to check smoke detector batteries. So don’t forget Saturday night before you turn in for the night to set your clocks forward one hour – and to check the batteries on your smoke detector.
