U.S. District 10 Candidate from Dacula Backs Fair Tax
"It is time for this commonsense change," State Rep. Donna Sheldon said.

State Rep. Donna Sheldon (R-Dacula) is calling for the federal government to scrap the Internal Revenue Service in favor of the Fair Tax system — a national sales tax on all goods and services purchased, excluding money spent up to the federal poverty level. The income tax and payroll tax would be eliminated completely under this plan.
“The IRS is an unwieldy, inefficient, massive bureaucracy that has now become a political weapon to be wielded against Americans based on their political beliefs,” Sheldon said in a news release. “The Fair Tax is simpler, more equitable, difficult for the government to abuse and it treats every American fairly. Its time has come.”
Sheldon said replacing the IRS with the Fair Tax system is an opportunity to cut the size and scope of government and stimulate the economy.

Sheldon represents Dacula and parts of northeast Gwinnett County in the state's 104th District and chairs Georgia's House Majority Caucus. She has already announced her 2014 candidacy for the U.S. District 10 Seat to be vacated by U.S. Rep. Paul Broun. So far, Sheldon is the only woman in the mix of candidates expected to compete for the seat.
