Trail of White Powder Leads WCSO Deputies to Fugitive Hiding in Attic in Monroe Home

Walton County's Sheriff's Deputies also arrested the fugitive's girlfriend, for obstruction as well as tampering with evidence after prescription drugs, initially visible in plain sight, disappeared.

When Walton County Sheriff's Deputies went to serve a warrant at a home on Covington Street in Monroe on Feb. 27, they were able to hear someone moving quickly to the back of the house. But it was the trail of white powder on the mouth of the person answering the door, as well as on the steps of the ladder leading to the attic, that gave him away.

Timothy Chad Reeves was arrested on a Gwinnett County warrant, along with his girlfriend, Mandie Kampsen, after Reeves was located in the attic. According to the WCSO's incident report, Kampsen intially told deputies that Reeves was not there - that she had thrown him out the night before. At that time, the deputies  noticed a white powdery substance all over her face. When she reportedly gave them permission to enter, they saw the same powdery substance in a plastic packet and an unmarked pill bottle on a table in the living room. After noticing the same powdery substance on the steps leading to the attic, deputies were able to follow the trail and arrest Reeves. However, when they got back to the living room, the pill bottle reportedly was gone. It was located under the couch and the contents were identified as schedule II and schedule III narcotics.

Reeves was charged with obstruction, possession of schedule II and III controlled substance, prescription drugs to be kept in original container and a hold was placed on him for Gwinnett County. Kampsen also was arrested and charged with obstruction, tampering with evidence and on drug charges.
