First UMC of Monroe Offers Blessing of the Animals
This will be followed by a fair showing animal-centered services and businesses from the local area.
The First United Methodist Church in Monroe will hold its first ever Blessing of the Animals on Sunday, April 20, 2013 at the church. This will begin at 9 a.m. and run until noon.
According to the church website, the service beings at 9 a.m., during which time Pastor Dane will bless each of any animals present.
"Bring your family pet (fish, rabbit, dog, cat, etc) to our Blessing of the Animals Service," the website reads, going on to caution that all animals must be on a leash or in a carrier - and to not bring any aggressive animals.

Following the service, there will be a fair featuring the many animal-centered services and businesses in the area. These include:
- Ice cream (for the pets) by Bruster's
- A Frisbee demonstration by Ashley Hill Pet Center
- Gift basket giveaways
- Local veterinarians and business to share more information about their field
- Pet adoptions
