Florida Georgia Line Rock the House at Georgia Theatre in Athens, Ga. - Were You There?

Florida-Georgia Line, the country music duo featuring Brian Kelley from Florida and Monroe, Ga.’s own Tyler Hubbard, added a March 20 performance at Georgia Theatre in Athens to their busy schedule. The date sold out months in advance, but some local residents were able to get tickets.

The next time Florida Georgia Line is scheduled to perform in the local area is July 14, 2013 at Aaron's Amphitheatre at Lakewood in Atlanta. Those tickets are not yet on sale. 

Since signing with Republic Records in the summer of 2012, Florida Georgia Line has seen their star rising at amazing speed. Not only did their debut single “Cruise” go Gold in October and then Platinum in a matter of weeks, but they also got to introduce music superstar Taylor Swift at the American Music Awards. They now have been nominated for three awards themselves. According to The Examiner, Florida Georgia Line has been nominated for Vocal Duo of the Year alongside Lady Antebellum, Zac Brown Band, The Band Perry, Eli Young Band and Little Big Town. The band has also been nominated for New Vocal Duo or Group of the Year as well as New Artist of the Year. Florida Georgia Line also will be sharing some tour gigs with Taylor Swift this year.

The duo’s first big hit, "Cruise" made it to No. 1 on the Billboard Charts in December 2012 and their second single, "Get Your Shine On," filmed in Cancun, Mexico, is currently at No. 7. 

Hubbard grew up in Monroe, attending Monroe Elementary School, George Walton Academy and Loganville Christian Academy. His family still lives in the Walton County area.
