Funeral Arrangements Set for Besse Cooper, 116

Walton County's, and one of the world's, longest living persons will be laid to rest on Saturday.

Funeral arrangements have been set for Saturday for Besse B. Cooper, Walton County's longest living person and until, her death on Tuesday, the oldest person in the world. According to her family, Cooper died peacefully at 2 p.m. Dec. 4, 2012, at a Monroe nursing home. She was 116 years and 100 days.

According to the Meadows Funeral Home website, there will be a visitation for Cooper from 5 - 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, at the Meadows Funeral Home at 760 Highway 11 SE in Monroe. A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at the Monroe First United Methodist. Cooper will be interred at the New Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery.
