Lunch at the Fire Station in Monroe

Before the launch of Monroe-GA Patch, I had the opportunity to meet the Monroe firefighter and was invited to stay for lunch. It remains one of the highlights of my first year as editor of Monroe-GA Patch.

Not only was it a great meal, but I also had an opportunity to witness the day-to-day operations of the Monroe Fire Department.  Although it turned out to be a false alarm, the meal was interrupted by a call out and most of the crew had to leave food on their plates and suit up to head out. They didn't hesitate.
