Man Charged with DUI After Driving Through Cemetery and Knocking Down Headstones

The Walton County Sheriff's Office responded to the following incidents from May 8 - 12, 2013.

Zone 1

• Theft – A dirt bike was taken from a residence on Gordon Reynolds Road.
• Safety Check – Walton County deputies conducted a safety check on Cannon Farm Rd. @ Ashland Farm Rd. Deputies checked for the required driving criteria: valid driver’s license, vehicle registration and insurance.
• Suspicious Person – A white male in his twenty’s was observed at a vacant residence on Riverbend Road. The subject was driving a gray 2008 Chevy Silverado. Subject advised he was looking for snakes. Extra patrol was requested.
• Safety Check – Walton County deputies conducted a safety check on Hightower Trail @ Whitehead Rd. Deputies checked for the required driving criteria: valid driver’s license, vehicle registration and insurance.

Zone 3

• Arrest – A subject was arrested for several outstanding warrants during a traffic stop on Hwy 78 @ Jim Daws Road.
• Theft – A chainsaw was taken from a residence on Bethany Church Road.
• Safety Check – Walton County deputies conducted a safety check on Hwy 83 at Jacks Creek Water Treatment Center. Deputies checked for the required driving criteria: valid driver’s license, vehicle registration and insurance.
• Suspicious Person – A “scruffy looking” black male was seen going through tools in an unsecured building on the property of a residence on Mt. Vernon Rd. Extra Patrol requested.

Zone 4

• Vehicle Accident – A subject was involved in a single vehicle accident on Shoals Creek Rd. @ Perry Smith Rd. The vehicle left the roadway striking several headstones at the location. The subject left the scene and was later arrested for D.U.I.
• Safety Check – Walton County deputies conducted a safety check on James Huff Rd. @ Old Athens Hwy. Deputies checked for the required driving criteria: valid driver’s license, vehicle registration and insurance.
• Extra Patrol – Extra patrol was requested on Park Lake Court in reference to vehicles speeding in the area.

Zone 5

• Prowler – A subject was reportedly beating on the side of a residence on Coastal Lane then knocking over a birdbath.
• Alarm – Walton County deputies responded to an alarm on Whitman Court in Thompson Woods subdivision. Windows and door appeared secure.
• Alarm – Walton County deputies responded to an alarm on Hwy 78 at F.I.S.H. Ministries. Windows and doors appeared secure.
• Theft – Two dirt bikes were taken from a residence on Grady Smith Road.
• Extra Patrol – A tombstone was damage at Hickory Grove Baptist Church.
• Safety Check – Walton County deputies conducted a safety check Piney Grove Rd. @ Robin Drive. Deputies checked for the required driving criteria: valid driver’s license, vehicle registration and insurance.

Zone 6

• Extra Patrol – Mailboxes were damaged on South Sharon Church Road.
• Damage to Property – A mailbox was damaged on Tom Brewer Road by someone shooting it with a firearm. Extra patrol requested.

Zone 7

• Entering Auto – A vehicle was entered on Thompson Lane. A firearm was taken from the vehicle.
• Alarm – Walton County deputies responded to an alarm on Sterling Water Drive. Windows and doors appeared secure. 
• Safety Check – Walton County deputies conducted a safety check on Youth Monroe Rd. @ Ho Hum Hollow Rd. Deputies checked for the required driving criteria: valid driver’s license, vehicle registration and insurance.
