McDonald's is Giving Its Signature Quarter Pounder a Makeover

The Quarter Pounder, which was introduced in 1971, remains one of the restaurant chain's best-selling menu items.

McDonald's plans to replace its Angus Third Pounders with a new take on a signature menu item, Boston.com reports.Β 

The fast-food chain will begin offering three new Quarter Pounders nationwideΒ beginning mid-June, and the new burgers will come in two of the same varieties as the Angus β€” Bacon and Cheese and Deluxe, with a third option ofΒ Habanero Ranch. The new burgers will include a bun with eight grams of whole grains.Β 

Boston.com reports theΒ shift from meatier burgers to those with less meat comes as restaurant chains face rising beef prices. McDonald's is also looking to to boost slumping sales.Β
