Monroe Could See Rain/Snow Showers by Sunrise

No weather alerts out, but the hourly forecast is calling for rain/snow mix from 6 - 11 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 16, in Monroe, Ga.

The National Weather Service has not issued any alerts for the local area, but does warn of a slight possibility of a rain snow/mix in Monroe, Ga. from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. changing over to snow from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. 

The hazardous weather statement issued at 12 noon on Friday reads, in part:

A SURGE OF ARCTIC AIR WILL PUSH INTO THE REGION ON SATURDAY. SCATTERED SNOW SHOWERS ARE POSSIBLE ACROSS NORTH GEORGIA SATURDAY AS TEMPERATURES REMAIN IN THE 30S. SNOWFALL UP TO ONE INCH IN THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS ARE POSSIBLE. HOWEVER...SOME LIGHT ACCUMULATIONS OR DUSTING OF SNOW WILL BE POSSIBLE ON GRASSY AREAS OF NORTH GEORGIA. STRONG GUSTY NORTHWEST WINDS WILL USHER IN THE COLDER AIR. WINDS OF 15 TO 20 MPH WITH GUSTS TO AROUND 30 ARE POSSIBLE SATURDAY. SOME HIGHER GUSTS WILL BE POSSIBLE IN THE MOUNTAINS.

In its hourly forecast at 8:30 p.m. Friday, for Monroe, Ga., Weather.com reported a 30 percent chance of precipitation with a rain/snow mix from 6 - 9 a.m. and then snow showers until 11 a.m. Possibility of a dusting, but no accumulation expected.
