Monroe Man Faces Charges of Sexual Exploitation of Minors

Michael Brandon Clay, 25, of Monroe, turned himself in to the Walton County Sheriff's Office on June 13, 2013 on six counts of sexual exploitation of minors. He has since been released on bond.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation confirmed that Michael Brandon Clay, 25, a man who was known in the Loganville area as a volunteer coach, is facing charges of sexual exploitation of minors. According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, Clay is alleged to have attempted to solicit photographs of the genitalia of minors via text messages. The information was turned over to the Loganville Police Department, who requested the assistance of the GBI.

"He turned himself in to Walton County Sheriff's authorities on June 13," said Mike Ayers, the GBI special agent in charge of the case. "We were called in to assist by the Loganville Police Department on March 11. These charges are in connection to solicitation of illicit photography of minors."

WCSO confirmed that he is a resident of Monroe and has since bonded out of jail. His address is listed as 1600 Gratis Heights Lane, Monroe.

Clay has previously submitted stories to Patch on basketball games, including some from Loganville High School. However, after being told that he was no longer afilliated with the school, or even allowed on school property, his submissions were no longer run. Walton County Public Schools said he was a volunteer coach and was never an officially approved lay coach or employee of the school system.
