Motorist Falls Asleep and Runs Off the Road, Injuring Two

A woman who ran off the road on Highway 11 on March 2 reportedly told authorities she fell asleep. She and a passenger were transported to Clearview Regional Hospital.

A Georgia State Patrol spokesman said Amber Nicole Poe, 30, from Covington was driving a 1999 Ford Ranger north on GA 11 around 8:45 a.m. on March 2, when she ran off the road, struck a culvert and overturned.  She and a passenger, John Wesley Berry, 22, from Covington, were taken to Clearview Medical for treatment.

According to the GSP spokesman, Poe reportedly told the trooper that she fell asleep. She was charged with failing to maintain lane.
