'Watsons Go to Birmingham' to Film Scenes Stone MountainΒ -Β Stone Mountain Patch
The Watsons are going to Birmingham - but they're also coming to the city of Stone Mountain.
The Lifetime Television movie "The Watsons Go to Birmingham" is scheduled to film scenes on E. Mountain Street April 29 through May 2, said Susan Ryles, Main Street Stone Mountain executive director, at the city council work session Monday.

Slain Driver Identified As Local Rapper - East Atlanta Patch
The DeKalb County Medical Examiner's Office said the man shot multiple times last week on I-20 West near the Glenwood Avenue exit is 42-year-old James D. Lewiel.
AsΒ East Atlanta PatchΒ first reported, the victim, whose stage name was OG Double Dee, was part of a well known hip-hop team named Freebandz. The rap artist, Future, is the most famous artist from the team and is currently in radio rotation.

A man allegedly had more than 37 pounds ofΒ methamphetamine, nearly three pounds of cocaine and a large duffel bag filled with cash as he tried to leave his East Cobb residence last Tuesday.
And whenΒ Marietta-Cobb-Smyrna agentsΒ found Jose Maria Gama with the items at the residence in the 3000 block of Alberta Drive, they said he failed to complyΒ with multiple commands to show his hands,Β according to a Cobb County criminal warrant.Β Additionally, he resisted two agents who attempted to take him into custody, records show.

Three men have been arrested and charged with aggravated assault and battery after a bar fight that put a man in a chemically induced coma to be treated for his head injuries, according to a report from the Villa Rica Police Department.
Chase Mayfield, 21 of Villa Rica, suffered a severe head injury, during a fight on April 12 at Stix Bar & Grill and remains in a coma. lvin Eugene Norris, 36 of Villa Rica; Gregory George Rainwater, 34 of Winston; and Michael Ray Baldwin, 37 of Dallas have all been charged with aggravated assault and battery and are being held at the Carroll County Jail.

Midtown Gay Bars Make Moves to Become Smoke-Free - Midtown Patch
You won't have to worry about smelling like smoke after a night in one of Midtown's gay bars or clubs anymore. Most of them are banning smoking inside or have created designated smoking areas.
Heretic, Jungle, My Sister's Room andΒ Mary's in East AtlantaΒ have all gone non-smoking at least part-time. On April 7,Β Burkhart'sΒ announced that it was smoke-free indoors.Β Atlanta EagleΒ is considering also becoming smoke-free in May, according toΒ GA Voice. AndΒ MixxΒ and Cockpit have been smoke-free since they opened.
