New Movie Theater to be Constructed Nearby
Neighboring Oconee County to get 16-screen Movie Theater by Memorial Day 2013.

Walton County movie goers have to travel outside the county if they want to attend a theater, but they will soon have one a little closer to home. Construction is now under way on a 16-screen movie theater next door in neighboring Oconee County.
According to a blog post by Lee Becker of Oconee County Observations, University 16 Stadium Theater at the new shopping center on Epps Bridge Road will be ready to open by Memorial Day of 2013. The shopping center will stretch from the Oconee Connecter intersection with SR Loop 10 to Epps Bridge Parkway. Becker writes that Georgia Theatre Company plans to open a movie theater with theaters ranging in size from 344 person seating to 85 person seating.
Officials in Loganville are still working on a movie theater somewhere in the city limits, which could bring the first movie theater to Walton County. In the meantime, movie goers in Walton County still have to travel to Conyers, Athens, Snellville, Bethlehem, Lawrenceville and soon Oconee County if they want to catch a movie in a theater.
