News Nearby: RaceTrac on Monroe Highway Opening Soon

A grand opening celebration is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 12 at the new Oconee County, Ga. gas station and convenience store.

Finishing touches are taking place at the site of the new RaceTrac at 2403 Monroe Highway in preparation for opening day Friday, Oct. 12. In celebration, a ribbon cutting has been scheduled for 10:30 a.m.Β 

The owners will say a few words, as will Melvin Davis, Chairman of the County Board of Commissioners.Β  Members of the North Oconee High School Titan Regiment are slated to perform and a DJ will keep the party rocking through the early afternoon. Additionally, vendors will be giving away free samples and coupons. The entire community is invited, according to Kristi McLinskey, RaceTrac Community Partnerships Manager in Georgia.

"We want them to see what we have to offer here to make people's lives easier and more enjoyable," she said.

The 6,000 square-foot store is a prototype that features outside seating, a walk-in "beer cave" and several ovens, McLinskey said. The store also boasts a full frozen yogurt bar with more than 40 toppings. It will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
