Outdoor Burn Ban Now in Effect

The ban lasts through Sept. 30.

Walton County residents are reminded that theΒ Georgia Environmental Protection Division'sΒ annual ban on outdoor burning is now in effect.Β 

The annual ban, which runs from May 1 through Sept. 30, is put into effectΒ due to health concerns associated with pollutants created by outdoor burning β€” theΒ smoke can negatively impact air quality during hot summer months by contributing toΒ high ozone levels. Β 

The open burn ban prohibits residents and businesses from burning yard debris or land clearing debris. You can get the full list of what the burn ban laws are from the Walton County Fire and Rescue website. As the website reads,Β
