Police Identify Suspect Known as '316 Office Creeper," Accused of Targeting Area Businesses

11Alive reports a thief accused of entering several businesses in nearby Winder, Oconee and Clark counties posing as a maintenance worker and stealing women's wallets has been identified.

A thief who targetedΒ commercial businesses in Winder posing as a maintenance employee has been identified.Β 

11Alive News calls him the "316 Office Creeper" and reports law enforcement has identified the suspect as 54-year-oldΒ Antonio Hornsby. He has been charged with felony warrants for burglaryΒ and theft, misdemeanor theft by taking and loitering and prowling by Athens-Clarke County Police. He is also a suspect in several thefts in Winder,Β Duluth, Braselton, Acworth, Cartersville and Henry County. According to mugshot,Β 

The Winder Police Department asked for help this past week in identifying the suspect, captured in video surveillance. According to a news release issued by the department, theΒ victims were targeted between noon and 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, andΒ each of the witnesses gave similar descriptions of a man who entered the businesses claiming to be someone sent by the building owner to perform services such as carpet cleaning and pest control. The man was given access to office areas after telling employees he needed to inspect the area for the work he was going to perform. Employees, who were out of their offices, discovered their wallets missing from purses and desks shortly after the man left the buildings.

Police believe Hornby is traveling alongΒ Interstate 75 on his way to Florida, where he has family.Β 

11Alive reports the suspectΒ targeted the Classic Hair Salon on Piedmont Drive in Winder. "He walked up to my co-worker and said he was there to spray for bugs," owner Judy Barclay told the news outlet.
