The Dream Season Continues - Monroe Area Hurricanes Advance in Playoffs

In a 21-20 win against Grady in overtime Friday, Monroe Area Purple Hurricanes move into the next round in the Georgia High School 2012 Football Championship.

Monroe Area Purple Hurricanes clawed their way to a win against Grady, winning 21-20 in overtime Friday. In what has been a dream season, the Hurricanes now head to the quarter finals in the 2012 Georgia High School Football Championships.

The win against Grady advances the 'Canes to the Great 8. The 'Canes head into next weeks match 11-1 and Region 8 Champions. This is the first time that Monroe Area has made it this far in a state football championship.

According to SavannahNow.com, Monroe Area will face No. 4 Seed South Effingham in the quarter finals next week. The South Effingham Mustangs beat No. 1 Seed Westover 41-28 Friday to advance to the next round.
