Walton County Sheriff's Office Shares Tips to Safeguard Your Vehicle From Thieves
Follow this seven-step auto-protection guideline.

For the protection of your property, the Walton County Sheriff’s Office offers the following seven-step Auto-Protection Guideline:

1.  LOCK your car doors and windows upon exiting your vehicle – EVEN WHEN PARKED IN YOUR DRIVEWAY

2. Do not leave valuables in your car – Especially items like Electronics, Credit Cards, Cash or Checkbooks.

3. Do not leave your car keys in the ignition.
Â
4. Close and lock your garage door at night; and if at all possible, park your vehicles in your garage space.
Â
5. Secure valuables, tools and equipment that are usually kept in your work-truck bed at night.
Â
6. Leave an outside light on at night, such as porch lights, sidelights, or motion sensor lights.
Â
7. Always notify 9-1-1 if you see anyone or anything suspicious in your neighborhood or area.
