Sunshine, After School Art and a Football Rivalry This Week in Monroe

2. The Funky Mermaid Art Studio & Gift Boutique, 533 S. Madison Ave, Monroe, offers after school art for kids on Tuesdays and children's pottery classes on Thursdays. 

3. The next meeting of the Historical Preservation Committee will be on Tuesday, Aug. 27.  The meeting starts at 6 p.m. and is held in the Municipal Auditorium located inside City Hall at 215 North Broad Street.

4. The Monroe Area Hurricanes open their season on the road against rival Loganville this Friday, Aug. 30. The game starts at 7:30 p.m.
