Williamson Tours Coal-Fired Plant with Fellow Republican Leaders

Coal-fired Plant Branch in Milledgeville, Ga. is scheduled to be closed.

The Republican leadership in Georgia attended a seminar in Milledgeville, Ga. on Saturday. This was followed by a tour of the Plant Branch coal-fired electrical facility. According to The Telegraph, Plant Branch is scheduled to be closed by 2015, costing the area more than 200 jobs. The Telegraph cites the reason for the plant closing as "the cost of complying with existing and future environmental regulations, forecasted economic conditions, and lower natural gas prices."

Georgia Rep. Bruce Williamson (R-Monroe) was part of the group in attendance. He said conservative media speaker Phil Kent was the speaker at the seminar.

Williamson is considering a 2014 run for the seat to be vacated by U.S. Rep. Paul Broun.
