Cobb Author to Speak About Antietam
Richard Croker speaks next week about his Civil War book in Cartersville.

Cobb CountyΒ historian, documentary film maker and author Richard Croker is set toΒ examineΒ "theΒ bloodiest single day in all of American history" during theΒ Booth Western Art Museum'sΒ Art for Lunch inΒ Cartersville.
Set for Aug. 7 at 12:15 p.m. in the Booth Ballroom, East Cobb-area residentΒ Croker will talk about his book onΒ theΒ Battle of Antietam, an AmericanΒ Civil WarΒ fightΒ thatΒ many experts believe was significantly more important than Gettysburg, according to theΒ Booth's website. Lunch will be available for purchase.

Two of Crokerβs great-grandfathers fought for the Confederacy in the Civil WarβSamuel FreerΒ Croker was wounded twice, once at Second Manassas (Brawnerβs Farm) and later at Petersburg.
"(Croker's) books are literary reenactments of theΒ battles of Antietam and Fredericksburg, depicting actual Americans doing nothing more or less thanΒ they really did," according to the bio.
