Commissioners Reject Proposed Auto Repair Shop

A proposed auto repair and catering business across from Lassiter High School on Steinhauer Road was opposed Tuesday by Commissioners, 5-0.

The only item on the agenda at Tuesday’s meeting to attract opposition was the request by John Row to operate an auto repair and catering business on a portion of his Steinhauer Road property, across from Lassiter High School, reports the Marietta Daily Journal.

Three Northeast Cobb residents opposed the request, including Nancy Mangiante, a resident of the nearby Stratton Hall subdivision. β€œIt’s across the street from the school, and the way the neighborhood and the way the street is laid out, it’s already a very congested area. To have a business across the street, we feel it would just add to the congestion of the area.”

Mangiante, along with two other residents, feel that Row's plans are vague and not in compliance with the neighborhood.

Row asked commissioners if he could have his proposal continued to a future meeting to better develop his plan.

β€œAll I wanted to do was to do something reasonable to help me pay my bills,” Row told commissioners. β€œI don’t understand all this opposition.”

But commissioners voted 5-0 against Row’s request, agreeing with the planning commission’s earlier recommendation, according to the Marietta Daily Journal.

β€œThe area is just not conducive to the businesses you want to put there, Mr. Row,” District 3 Commissioner JoAnn Birrell said before motioning to deny Row’s request.
