Dog Treats Still Sold Despite 600 Cases of Illness

An Atlanta veterinarian reported cases of Fanconi syndrome to the FDA possibly tied to chicken jerky pets made in China.

Dr. Duffy Jones of the Peachtree Hills animal hospital is seeing more cases of a rare kidney disease, reports 11Alive News. And the cause is likely jerky pet treats made in China.

Jones told 11Alive that Fanconi syndrome is genetic and rare. The kidneys leak glucose into the urine. The animal hospital started asking, why are we seeing this Fanconi syndrome in dogs that shouldn't have it, Jones said.

There's no doubt in Jones's mind that the treats are to blame.
