Sprayberry Cheers 2012; High Fire Risk
Here's what you should know to start Aug. 29 in Northeast Cobb.

1. While the Northeast is and dealing with one of the wettest months on record, Cobb and other counties in North Georgia face a high risk of wildfires this afternoon and evening because itβs so dry and the humidity will be so low, the National Weather Service says. Weβre also under a Code Orange smog alert. It will be a sunny day with little wind and a high around 93. Overnight, the low will be about 64, and the wind will gust up to 15 mph.
2. The Cobb County Planning Commission is holding a work session in downtown Marietta at 1:30 p.m. today.
3. The football team had the weekend off, but the softball team was busy all day Friday and Saturday in the first Buccaneer Bash tournament (results to come), and the cross-country team got the season started at the Walton/Peachtree Ridge Stage Races in Duluth, where the girls finished fifth of 16 teams and the boys finished 13th. The Lady Trojan volleyball team played five matches Saturday, beating McIntosh, Dunwoody and Northview and losing to St. Pius X and Johns Creek. The Lassiter softball team plays at Harrison today at 7 p.m.

5. As Northeast Cobb Patch reported last week, a Sprayberry grad who was attending Kennesaw State University, Tyler Davis, died on the after apparently to something he ate. Kennesaw Patch reports that Davisβ about the slow flow of information from the university about Davisβ death.
