It's Library Card Sign-Up Month in Cobb

September is Library Card Sign Up Month, a time when the Cobb County Public Library System joins with the American Library Association and public libraries nationwide to make sure that everyone has the most important tool of all – a free library card.

Cobb County residents and business owners are encouraged to join us as we celebrate Library Card Sign Up Month and to take action. 

Cardholders should ensure that their library cards are valid and encourage family members, friends, and neighbors to get a card. It’s easy to get one, and of course, library cards are free for residents, business owners, and property owners.

Library cards can be used to discover so many possibilities. Think of everything a library card can help with: people can use their library cards for school, to discover exciting entertainment options, to learn a new language, to find a job, to discover their family tree, to download eBooks, to research business opportunities, to take up a new hobby… the possibilities are endless. Discover some of these possibilities at www.cobbcat.org/library-card and learn about the many things library card can help with.

People are also invited to share pictures of what the library has made possible for them and follow along in the conversation on social media:

Throughout the course of the month, the library will host a number of activities, including:

• Canine Companions for Independence – Vinings Library, Tuesday, September 10 at 3:30 pm;
• We ART America: a 9/11 Remembrance Art Project – Kennesaw Library, Wednesday, September 11 at 5 pm;
• Writers Workshop with Author Margaret Johnson-Hodge – South Cobb Regional Library,Thursday, September 19, 11:30 am.
