Join St. Andrew UMC for the Hanging of the Greens

will begin the Hanging of the Greens festivities with dinner in the Keheley Center fellowship hall at 5 p.m. The Hanging of the Greens will follow in the St. Andrew sanctuary at 6 p.m. The celebration will then conclude with a concert by the St. Andrew Two or More Praise Team, accompanied by some delicious dessert at 7 p.m. There is no charge for dinner, but contributions to the missions of St. Andrew are welcome.

“November 27 is the first Sunday in Advent and time to decorate God’s house as we await the coming of the Messiah,” said Rev. Mack Riley, senior pastor at St. Andrew UMC. “We invite everyone in the area to join our church family for this big celebration.”

“Many United Methodist churches hold a service of preparation for Christ's coming, which includes hanging greenery traditionally associated with everlasting life,” said Rev. Angie Crummie, associate pastor. “Greens such as cedar for royalty, fir and pine boughs for everlasting life, holly symbolizing Jesus' death, and ivy representing the resurrection are used.”
