Lassiter Battles Etowah for No. 3 Seed
No matter if Etowah (5-4, 3-2) or Lassiter (7-2, 3-2) wins tonight's game, the winner will spend the first week of the postseason on the road.
Entering tonightβs regular-season finale at Frank Fillmann Stadium, (7-2, 3-2) must battle Etowah (5-4, 3-2) for the regionβs No. 3 seed.
Lassiter coach Jep Irwin said he was prepared.
βI knew the region was going to be competitive this year, so Iβm not too surprised that we come in with two losses,β he told the Marietta Daily Journal. βWe were a 4-seed last year and lost to Walton and a few other teams. The competition has just gotten better.
βEtowah had a week off to prepare for us, so weβll see how that plays out. Theyβre a physical team that likes to run and hit you. One of the things weβll need to do well (tonight) is weβre going to have to match their physicality and force them to pass the ball more.β
Lassiterβs offense averages 34.3 points per game, while its defense is giving up 19 per game, making the Trojans a formidable playoff opponent, whether theyβre a No. 3 or No. 4 seed.
