Lassiter Battles Etowah for No. 3 Seed

No matter if Etowah (5-4, 3-2) or Lassiter (7-2, 3-2) wins tonight's game, the winner will spend the first week of the postseason on the road.

Entering tonight’s regular-season finale at Frank Fillmann Stadium, (7-2, 3-2) must battle Etowah (5-4, 3-2) for the region’s No. 3 seed.

Lassiter coach Jep Irwin said he was prepared.

β€œI knew the region was going to be competitive this year, so I’m not too surprised that we come in with two losses,” he told the Marietta Daily Journal. β€œWe were a 4-seed last year and lost to Walton and a few other teams. The competition has just gotten better.

β€œEtowah had a week off to prepare for us, so we’ll see how that plays out. They’re a physical team that likes to run and hit you. One of the things we’ll need to do well (tonight) is we’re going to have to match their physicality and force them to pass the ball more.”

Lassiter’s offense averages 34.3 points per game, while its defense is giving up 19 per game, making the Trojans a formidable playoff opponent, whether they’re a No. 3 or No. 4 seed.
