Melanie Moore Dances into Big Night

Here's what you need to know to start Aug. 10 in Northeast Cobb.

1. Today’s weather should be pleasantly boringβ€”no hazardous storms, no triple-digit heat index, no extreme humidity, just a lot of sun and standard August heat. The National Weather Service says the high will be 93 and the overnight low about 67. There’s a 20 percent chance of rain after 2 a.m. Thursday.

2. The Cobb Board of Education is meeting this morning at the Central Office at 514 Glover St., and Northeast Cobb representative David Banks could grab the spotlight again. He is for reapportionment, and the Marietta Daily Journal says he has a pay raise plan in hand for school district employees. Northeast Cobb Patch will let you know what happens.

3. Tonight’s the last chance, the last dance, for 2010 grad to impress the viewers in her bid to win Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance? Moore has been . The competition finale starts at 8 tonight. The winner will be revealed during a two-hour show starting at 8 p.m. Thursday. A free viewing party to support the Northeast Cobb standout will be held at the Lassiter gym Thursday at 7 p.m., the Marietta Daily Journal reports. See the attached flier.
