Northeast Cobb Libraries and Parks May Cut Hours

Stop in and meet with us daily around the water cooler to discuss hot topics in Northeast Cobb and the world.

1. Are you a resident who found a flyer taped to your mailbox on Friday that warns a scrap metal processing and a transfer station is possibly coming to the old Hope Lumber place at 4586 Canton Road? How do you feel about the transfer station? Northeast Cobb Patch will have an article about it tomorrow.

2. Cub Scout Pack 797 is meeting tonight at St. Peter & Paul Episcopal Church, 1795 Johnson Ferry Rd. Does your child belong to the pack? We'd love to hear what's happening and more Pack 797 news.

3. The Cobb County budget is $31 million in the hole. The county may have to cut the Mountain View and Gritters library hours, the East Cobb Senior Center hours, and possibly the hours cut at our parks: Shaw Park, Sandy Plains, Sweat Mountain. How do you feel about these services being cut? What do you think should be cut?

4. I am not a fan of needles, but giving blood is giving the gift of life. You can give blood today at this American Red Cross Donor Center Site: Cobb Blood Donation Center, East Lake Shopping Center located at 2197 Roswell Road (near Marshalls at Eastlake). Donation Types: Blood. 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. Call 1-800-RED-CROSS (1-800-733-2767) for directions and availability.

5. I can't remember storms ever waking me up in the past, but last night was terrible. The loud thunder claps woke me up nearly every hour. Shelby, my little dog, was shaking and afraid. If the thunder didn't wake me, she did. Did the storm wake you up? Did your property sustain any damage? Some people had tree limbs that fell.
