Northeast Cobb Road Work Update
There is some construction going on this weekend.
The following information was provided by the office of District 3 Cobb Commissioner JoAnn Birrell:
Shiloh Road at Shallowford Road Construction
The contractor is not planning to work this weekend, Aug. 24-25.
- Shiloh/Shallowford Road from Wade Green Road to Canton Road –Monday, Aug. 26 through Friday, Aug. 30. Expect periodic lane closures from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. with one lane open while the contractor installs storm drainage, curb & gutter, sidewalk, water main, and utilities.
- Wade Green Road from Shiloh Road to I-75 ramps – Monday, Aug. 26 through Friday, Aug. 30. Expect periodic lane closures from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. with one lane open while the contractor continues removing the concrete median and placing concrete curb. EXPECT DELAYS
New Chastain Road Westbound Bridge Replacement
The replacement of the westbound bridge on New Chastain Road over Noonday Creek will result in closing the westbound lanes for four months, or longer, beginning this summer. Westbound traffic will be detoured to the eastbound bridge, which will provide one lane in each direction during construction.
- New Chastain Road over Noonday Creek – Saturday, Aug. 24 through Friday, Aug. 30. Contractor will be forming and placing concrete deck and walls. EXPECT DELAYS
Shallowford Road Sidewalk Construction
The contractor is not planning to work this weekend, Aug. 24-25.
Tanbark Place to Blackwell Road - Monday, Aug. 26 through Friday,
Aug. 30
Contractor will continue water line, storm drainage installation, and grading for sidewalk.
Steinhauer Road at Rocky Mountain Road Sidewalks
The contractor is not planning to work this weekend, Aug. 24-25.
- Shallowford Road to Rocky Mountain Road - Monday, Aug. 26 through Friday, Aug. 30. Expect intermittent lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with one lane remaining open at all times. Project is substantially complete. Contractor will be working on punchlist items and utility relocations.
Upcoming road closure - Summer Drive
Summer Drive between Sunshine Court and Summer Lane will be closed for utility work from Sept. 9-13. The street will be closed for pipe repair. Road Resurfacing**
Asphalt paving operations - which include lane closures though one lane will remain open at all times - are **scheduled next week, Monday, Aug.19through Friday, Aug. 23, on the following road: EXPECT DELAYS
- Bells Ferry Road from Cobb Pkwy to I-575 Bridge
- Night Work – Piedmont Road from Bells Ferry Road to Canton Road
Mowing schedule for upcoming week*
Median Mowing
• Piedmont Road – Bells Ferry Road to Sandy Plains Road
• Bells Ferry Road – Heck Road to Cherokee County line
* The above scheduled work is subject to change due to weather or construction progress.
Canton Road Bridge construction
Beginning Sept. 1, Canton Road between Sawyer Road and the ramp to Cobb Parkway will be closed for approximately 30 days (weather permitting).
The closure is to replace the Canton Road bridge and also the rail road bridge over U.S.41 / SR 3. This project will also realign Industrial Park Drive and Elizabeth Street to make intersection improvements.
