Northeast Cobb Road Work Update
The new pedestrian bridge on Timber Ridge Road is taking shape.

The following is a summary of projects in the next week furnished by District 3 Cobb Commissioner JoAnn Birrell:Β
Shiloh Road at Shallowford Road Construction
Shallowford Road at Noonday Creek Park opened to traffic on Β Monday, July 29.Β The contractor is not planning to work this weekend,Β Aug. 10-11.
- Wade Green Road to Canton Road βΒ Monday,Β Aug. 12 through Friday, Aug. 16.Β Expect periodic lane closures fromΒ 9 a.m. β 4 p.m.Β with one lane open while the contractor installs storm drainage, curb and gutter, sidewalk, water main, and utilities.

New Chastain Road Westbound Bridge Replacement
The replacement of the westbound bridge on New Chastain Road over Noonday Creek will result in closing the westbound lanes for four months, or longer, beginning this summer. Westbound traffic will be detoured to the eastbound bridge, which will provide one lane in each direction during construction.

Shallowford Road Sidewalk Construction
The contractor is not planning to work this weekend,Β Aug. 10-11.
- Tanbark Place to Blackwell Road -Β Monday, Aug. 12 throughΒ
Friday, Aug. 16.Β Contractor will begin installing erosion control, clearing and begin grading
The contractor is not planning to work this weekend,Β Aug. 10-11.
- Shallowford Road to Rocky Mountain Road -Β Monday,Β Aug. 12 through Friday, Aug. 16Β Expect intermittent lane closuresΒ fromΒ 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.Β with one lane remaining open at all times. Contractor will be final grading, installing sod, and utility relocations.
Timber Ridge Road Sidewalks Construction
Project consists of installing sidewalk on the north side of Timber Ridge Road.Β A pedestrian bridge over Timber Ridge Branch is included as part of the project.Β The contractor is not planning to work this weekend,Β Aug. 10-11.Β
- Jacksons Creek Bluff to Lower Roswell Road -Β Monday,Β Aug. 12 through Friday, Aug. 16.Β The contractor will continue grading, storm drainage, and concrete work. The new pedestrian bridge was set last week.Β
Road Resurfacing**
Asphalt paving operations - which include lane closures though one lane will remain open at all times - are **scheduled next week, Monday,Aug.12Β through Friday,Β Aug. 16, on the following road:Β EXPECT DELAYSΒ
- Bells Ferry Road fromΒ Cobb Pkwy to I-575 Bridge
- Night Work β Piedmont Road from Bells Ferry Road to Canton Road

Canton Road Bridge construction
BeginningΒ Sept. 1, Canton Road between Sawyer Road and the ramp to Cobb Parkway will be closed for approximately 30 days (weather permitting).Β
The closure is to replace the Canton Road bridge and also the rail road bridge over U.S.41 / SR 3. This project will also realign Industrial Park Drive and Elizabeth Street to make intersection improvements.Β

Skip Spann Connector (Busbee-Frey Connector)
This proposed project is a new bridge over Interstate 75 that connects Frey Road to Busbee Drive just north of Chastain Road. A roundabout is proposed at the intersection of the Skip Spann Connector and Busbee Drive.
Construction update from GDOT - road work on SR 120 ALT
GDOT started road resurfacing on the North Loop. This work is planned each weekend, weather permitting, through October. The first two weekends will involve asphalt placement. The other weekends will focus on concrete slab replacement under the I-75 overpass.Β Β Β
