Town Center Expansion Set for Approval
An annexation for the community improvement district is on the Cobb County Board of Commissioners' agenda for the meeting at 9 a.m. Tuesday at 100 Cherokee St.

The agenda for this morning's meeting includes an expansion of the Town Center Community Improvement District within Northeast Cobb.
The proposed expansion, approved last month by the CID board and part of the commissioners' consent agenda, would add two commercial properties owned by VKEP B L.L.C. and five residential parcels owned by Robert McCamy along Chastain Meadows Parkway between Big Shanty and Chastain roads.
VKEP B has consented to the annexation into the special tax district. McCamy doesn't have to agree because the CID does not tax residential property.

The annexation resolution is part of a pretty routine agenda. Among other items of interest to specific Patches:
- The board will decide whether the Kroger store at 1690 Powder Springs Rd. in Marietta can continue to sell beer and wine. A county board recommended revoking the store's license after an employee sold beer to an underage person and no one from the store attended a licensing board hearing on the matter. If the license is suspended or revoked, it would apply only to that store.
- The board is set to approve a transportation enhancement memorandum of understanding with the Georgia Department of Transportation for the bridgescape of Interstate 75 and Cumberberland Boulevard. The project consists of design and construction of a decorative structure on the Cumberland Boulevard bridge over I-75. The project will provide a gateway into Cobb County for motorists traveling north from Atlanta.
- The board is set to approve a contract with Baldwin Paving for school zone safety and operational improvements on Paper Mill Road at Sope Creek Elementary School. Paper Mill Road at is an approved school zone safety and operational improvement project in the 2011 SPLOST. The project consists of the addition of a right turn lane and lengthening the left turn lane on Paper Mill Road and the addition of a left turn lane exiting the main school driveway at Sope Creek Elementary.
The board has its regular meeting at 9 a.m. in the second-floor meeting room at 100 Cherokee St., just off Marietta Square. Northeast Cobb Patch will have live coverage of the meeting.
