Quench Your NE Cobb Outdoor Fires
The summer ban on burning leaves, tree limbs and yard waste outside goes into effect today.
Georgia's outdoor burn ban goes into effect today.
The ban, in effect until Sept. 30, is an to dry conditions and environmental health regulations. Issued by the state Environmental Protection Division, the ban covers Cobb and a number of surrounding counties.
The ban comes after a warm, dry April during which the National Weather Service issued alerts on several days about the risk of brush fires.

The following types of open burning are banned:
- Leaves, tree limbs and other yard waste.
- Vegetative waste from land clearing.
- Burning of forest land by the owners of the land.
Outdoor fireplaces and other types of fire pits are allowed with proper construction and location.
