Senior Centers Closing
A Northeast Cobb man is unhappy about the closing of senior centers.

Dear Northeast Cobb,
Am I the only person unhappy with the closing of two Cobb senior centers? The two centers closing are the Cobb County Senior Day Center on South Fairground Street in Marietta and Smyrna’s .
Seniors like myself are on a fixed income. The free blood pressure screenings are one example of the beneficial programs at senior centers.

And will closing these centers really make a difference?
Thirty seniors with physical disabilities as well as dementia and Alzheimer's stay at the Senior Day Center. The county has given the families just over two weeks to find alternative placement. It's not easy to find affordable placement. Most families in our county work full time and need the placement. Without this placement, many will have to quit jobs so that someone can stay home to care for the senior.

Could nothing else be cut instead of this? We've chosen to keep recreational programs going but place more strain on our neighbors who have seniors requiring daycare? It just isn't right.
