Shaw Road Collision Kills 1, Injures 2

It happened just after 9 p.m. Monday.

One man was ejected from his motorcycle and two other men were injured in a Monday night collision on Shaw Road, just south of Oak Springs Drive.

Timothy A. McGill, 48, was driving a red 1987 Honda Hurricane motorcycle southbound on Shaw Road just after 9 p.m. Monday when, for reasons unknown, he crossed the double yellow line and struck a gray 2006 Mitsubishi Outlander that was northbound on Shaw Road, said Sgt. Dana Pierce, the spokesman for the Cobb County Police Department.

"As a result of the impact with the Mitsubishi, (McGill) was ejected and was deceased on the scene after striking a brick mailbox on the western edge of the roadway," he said.

The driver of the Mitsubishi and her passenger, both 17 years old and from Marietta, were not injured in the collision, which also damaged a gray 2009 Toyota Camry that was southbound on Shaw Road.

But Pierce said the driver of the Toyota, a 44-year-old Marietta man, was injured by the debris. So was his passenger, a 26-year-old Kennesaw man.
