State Program Requires Ninth-Graders to Pursue Career Path
Public school students will choose a career to pursue out of 17 career categories, known as career pathway clusters.

A new state program under H.B. 713 requires ninth-graders to choose a career path and follow a career-tailored class schedule.
The objective, part of a national trend, is to prepare students for career and college. Most states have established career pathways initiatives. The new program will be the first mandated for Georgia ninth-graders.

Georgia lawmakers passed a bill earlier this year to start the career pathways program next fall, but lawmakers delay the launch date to 2013-14 in order to iron-out program details.
