Sweep the Hooch Returns April 13
Volunteer opportunities are still available for the Johnson Ferry and Sope Creek cleanup areas.
The multi-organization Sweep the Hooch event takes place on Saturday, April 13, and volunteer opportunities remain for cleanup projects in the East Cobb area.
First begun in 2011 and co-hosted by Trout Unlimited, Chattahoochee Riverkeeper and National Park Service-Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area, Sweep the Hooch is the largest one-day cleanup effort along the Chattahoochee River in the metro Atlanta area.
Walkers are needed at McGinnis Ferry, Island Ford, Gold Branch, Johnson Ferry, Cochran Shoals/Powers Island, Sope Creek, Paces Mill/Rottenwood Creek (sponsor site) and Whitewater Creek.

Paddlers are needed in several areas, including a four-mile stretch between Johnson Ferry and Powers Island.
The deadline for registration is Tuesday, April 9.

The cleanup project covers a 44-mile area, from the Buford Dam to Paces Mill and including the NRA, to be covered and cleaned by paddle, and along walking trails.
