Tax Filing Deadline

Gather around the water cooler to discuss hot topics and what's happening today, April 18.

1. Today is the deadline for filing your federal and state taxes. I filed mine on Friday. The IRS kicked it back Saturday. I have to figure out what it incorrect. What they cited I double-checked. I'll have to call the IRS. Taxes.... fun, fun, fun!

2. The North Cobb Democrats Meetup is meeting tonight. They meet every third Monday of the month to discuss matters of interest to all of members from different areas within Cobb County. The meetings are informal and include good food, drink and a lively discussion of upcoming events and on ways to best support candidates for upcoming elections. Speakers often attend the meetings to present topics of interest.  7 p.m. Rib Ranch located at 2063 Canton Road.

3. Today through April 23, David Douglas Diamonds & Jewelry will have colored eggs filled with gemstones, surprises and one $2,000.00 diamond. Now this is an Easter egg hunt for grownups!

Customers must present a postcard receives by mail to participate. If you did not receive a card in the mail, any new purchase made over $100 qualifies you to choose an egg at the store during the event.

4. Love to play golf? The 2011 Friends of Tom O’Connor Golf Tournament is set. As always, this tournament will benefit our friends at the Leukemia-Research Foundation. To date, Friends of Tom has raised over $22,000 to aid in leukemia research. Breakfast, lunch, snacks, and cigars. Hole-in-one prize, closest-to-the-pin competition, longest-drive hole, raffle, and silent auction. $125 per player. Registration: 8 a.m. Shotgun start: 9 a.m. Indian Hills Country Club is located at 4001 Clubland Drive.

5. Kennesaw State University will be hosting a viewing of "Tea Party; The Documentary Film" with speaker Luke Livingston, Executive-Producer of the film. He will be available for Q&A afterward. The movie is from 6:45 p.m. to 10:45 p.m. The room is 1019 in the Social Science's Building on the Kennesaw State University Campus located at 1000 Chastain Road Northwest.
