Whiz Kids: Avery Shepherd and Eugene Smith

The soccer playing awesomeness of Kell High School students Avery Shepard and Eugene Smith makes them our Northeast Cobb Whiz Kids of the Week.

Whiz Kid: Kell High School student and athlete Avery Shepard, 18, chose to sign with Southern Polytechnic State University to play soccer for the SPSU Hornets because he was impressed by the level of play, the coaching staff, their recent success, and allowing him to be close to home.

Whiz Kid: Kell High School student and athlete Eugene Smith, 18, chose to sign with Southern Polytechnic State University to play soccer for the SPSU Hornets because he likes the program, was impressed at the tryout, is close to home, and is interested in the educational programs.

Each week we'll highlight an individual child, youth group, teens and even sports teams that wow us with their accomplishments. We want to hear about these amazing children and teens and select one each week as the Whiz Kid. Submit your nomination in our comment box or e-mail the editor at julia.harris@patch.com.
